In 1953, the New York Yankees won their fifth straight World Series; Great Britain crowned a new monarch, Queen Elizabeth II; Charles Yeager reached an airspeed of more than 1,600 mph in a rocket-powered plane; and Cadillac's Eldorado was offered in a special limited edition model. This Limited Edition luxury convertible was offered late in the model year and was available with a full line of standard Deluxe accessories; wire wheels, Hydra-matic transmission, wrap-around windshield and leather and cloth upholstery, foglamps and white sidewall tyres. With the Cadillac Series 62 engine providing an impressive 210 horsepower, the Cadillac Eldorado Sports coupe convertible was as powerful as it was stylish. When the Hydra-matic plant burnt down in August 1953, production was halted and the model run would only reach 532 units in the year-making the 1953 Eldorado Sports Convertible Coupe a true collector's item. Now, the limited edition 1953 Cadillac Eldorado sports convertible coupe has been recaptured in all its elegance with a stately black finish, continental kit and canvas top.
